Pitting and Strip Corrosion Influence on Casing Strength of Salt Cavern Compressed Air Energy Storage

In response to the localized corrosion generated by underground casing, which seriously affects safe operation of salt cavern compressed air storage, we used commercial finite element software, ANSYS, propose a partial model applicable casings with pitting and strip corrosion. The results show that depth casing is closely related fracture collapse pressure. As increases, its effect on pressure becomes more significant. greater number pits, lower compressive strength tends be prone fracture. area large stress mainly distributed along long axis short corrosion, there no concentration appears as low region. failure than length. this work, developed method predict residual strength, useful assess not only well integrity but, additionally, safety during petroleum natural gas exploration production.
